Most industrial operations require some sort of detailed strategies and inspection processes to detect problems and improve efficiency. While it makes sense to have a properly trained person or personnel to oversee the inspection process, most strategies are not very effective when implemented and can leave your organization at a severe disadvantage.
One common reason detailed inspections are not very effective is because employees do not utilize the right observation techniques and resources when inspecting equipment. As a result, many deficiencies that should have been noticed are overlooked. To improve the inspection process and eliminate potential problems employees need to receive more thorough training so they can identify any deficiencies and problems with the equipment. They need to be trained to anticipate and look for problems during inspections instead of assuming that everything is in order because a piece of machinery appears to be working properly.
